A lovely spoon back chair. The photos here show that originally it was upholstered in horse hair fabric. Overall the chair upholstery was in good condition, but the frame needed strengthen, wooden worm treatment and work for the castors. I asked a local furniture maker to do this work, and was really please with the finish.

I replaced the springs and reupholstered using the original guts of the chair. The owners decided on a grey velvet, which was a real treat (if not terrifying) to work with, and a matching braid.

The deep back buttoning was a first for me, and the corners of the chair were challenging. When needed I was deeply grateful to have an experienced upholsterer at hand for guidance.

I was also so glad that I was using a long nosed staple gun as I wouldn’t have wanted to upholster around the polished edge with tacks! The staple gun enabled me to keep the shape of the chair
