This page provides detailed information about how we work. If you go ahead with a quote it is assumed you agree to the information laid out on this page.

ESTIMATES and ORDERS

We can give estimate ranges from pictures, but until we see what’s going on inside the piece of furniture we cannot give an exact quote. If you require an exact quote, then we would need to see the piece and remove some of the fabric to have a look (of which we would put back). There is a small fee for this, which if you decided to go ahead with the work then we would deduct.

All work needs to be confirmed in writing or via our workshop booking form for your work to be scheduled in.

Additional work, which may not be apparent when the estimate is provided, will be discussed with you on discovery and a course of action agreed. This includes frame repairs, which are hidden by upholstery.

LEAD TIMES

Turn around of modern and traditional upholstered work is around 6-10 weeks from when we take your work in. It can sometimes be longer, if the piece is larger, or requiring frame repair and restoration.

Loose covers and loose cushions have a turn around of up to 6 weeks – once work has been agreed in writing and the fabric has been paid for and arrived.

The upholstery industry in heavily reliant on a whole range of materials sourced from all over the world. We try to keep costs down by bulk ordering every few weeks, which means sometimes work may take longer to do. If you require a specific deadline, and we are required to purchase materials specifically for your job you will see a marked difference in your estimate.

FABRICS and MATERIAL

If you supply your own materials, it is your responsibility to ensure that the fabric is suitable for the purpose for intended and that it complies with the relevant regulations in force with regard to Fire & Safety.

We strongly suggest you discuss the suitability of the fabric with us. We will need a signed disclaimer understanding we will not guarantee the work.

If you supply the fabric, it is at your own risk, and if there is a shortage of fabric/imperfections it is your responsibility to supply and cover costs of additional fabric. This will affect the lead time.

We reserve the right to apply a 10% surcharge for handling fabrics not supplied by us.

All old covers will be removed prior to upholstery. These covers will be discarded unless you advise that they are to be returned. This advice must be in writing.

We cannot be held responsible for the behaviour of the treatment/fabric/trims, such as wearing and deterioration, stretching, shrinking, staining, cleanability, fading or damage to person or property, where you have acted against the manufacturer’s/retailer’s instructions, i.e. washing instructions, steaming etc.
